Cabasse La Sphère EVO – sound ball sets new standards

With La Sphère, Cabasse gave itself the ball back in 2006: an equally striking and uncompromising loudspeaker system that – electrically active, of course – enriched the world with a 4-way speaker with a point source based on a 50-centimeter bass. Since then, spherical speakers have been Cabasse’s trademark and many have followed, but none have ever been as consistent and impressive as the La Sphère from 2006. Now, on the brand’s 75th (!) birthday, the French present a new flagship with their Cabasse La Sphère EVO – and an impressive answer to the question of where the 75-year-old French loudspeaker traditionalist currently stands…

What’s inside the Cabasse La Sphère EVO?

First of all, an active 4-way system with digital signal processing and automatic room adjustment. The acoustic center consists of the proven TCA tri-coaxial driver. It is flanked by two 30 cm HELD bass drivers in push-push mode, a design that effectively avoids cabinet vibrations. All drivers come from Cabasse’s top models and deliver a frequency spectrum from 14 Hz to 27 kHz – from a small spherical volume and effectively equalized. Thanks to the powerful DSP, the whole thing works seamlessly, phase-stable and therefore spatially stable.

Also built into the sphere are four amplifiers (total output of over 10,000 watts RMS) and a streamer – La Sphère EVO is ready to play without a tangle of cables and connections, making it an ambassador for a new kind of high-end, where all you see are the sculpture-like speakers.

The new EVO version is slimmer, lighter and more living space-friendly than the original. The elegant spherical shape of the Sphère is retained and the technology disappears inconspicuously into the base. This is only seven centimetres high – and still houses all the amplifiers, the DACs and the streaming electronics.
